UW-Washington County is planning three productions of the classic Christmas story,
It’s a Wonderful Life: Life Radio Show in the campus theatre. Show dates are Friday, November 22 at 7:30pm, and Saturday, November 23 at 2:00pm and 7:30pm. This clever adaption by Joe Landry will bring the audience back to the golden age of radio. Sound effects will be performed live on stage and five actors will perform the various characters in the radio play, bringing a 1940s old time radio feel to life. Inspired by the classic American film, the play follows the story of George Bailey, as the angel Clarence is sent down from heaven to persuade the discouraged George from taking his own life one fateful Christmas Eve.
Serving as director, scenic and sound designer and artist is David Gasparetti of West Bend. A UW-WC alumni, David obtained his BA in theatre from UW Parkside. Brenda Huss is serving as stage manager, Johanna Landowski as costume designer and Heidi Salter as props master.
The cast includes Mitch Weindorf as George Bailey and Elizabeth Havican as Mary Hatch Bailey. Playing multiple roles are Courtney Vogel as Violet Bick and Co.; Jim Jacques as Potter, Joseph and Co., and Darryl Vogelmann as Clarence & Co.
Deemed the “best Christmas show of the season” by the Republican American, the production provides heartwarming entertainment for the entire family at a very modest cost. Sponsored by UW-Washington County’s Continuing Education department, tickets for It’s a Wonderful Life: Life Radio Show are $7 adults and $5 youth. Tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved by calling 262-335-5259 or emailing email@example.com. UW-Washington County is located at 400 University Drive in West Bend.
