5th Annual Poetry Slam!
The library's annual poetry slam is an event you won't want to miss! It will be held on Thursday, May 8 at noon in the courtyard. Stop by to drink a free cup of Dunn Bros. coffee, have a brownie and listen to some great poetry.
What is a poetry slam? It's a competitive poetry reading that is part poetry, part performance art which creates an entirely fun event. Students can register solo or in a team. Original poetry is preferred and will earn more points, but reading published poems works too. There will be 5 UWWC judges (think American Idol) that will rate each participant's performance on originality/creativity, quality of reading, stage presence and entertainment value. 5 bonus points will be given to each contestant that stays within the 4 minute time limit.
How do you sign up? Stop in the library to register. A photocopy of your poem must be turned in at registration.
Glug, glug, glug
That's the sound of the library's new water bottle filling station. Located just next to the library's DVD section, the water bottle refill station not only allows you to refill your bottle with outstanding filtered water, but the digital display shows you how many plastic water bottles our campus is keeping out of the landfill. Now it's even easier to reduce, reuse and recycle on campus.
