Next to Normal

Saturday, June 8, 2019

Led by Vic Passante

Price: $179.00

UWM at Waukesha has an exciting following of theater enthusiasts. Vic Passante likes to call you our "theater geeks," and he is proud to be the geekiest of the lot. Vic and Continuing Education have taken you to shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Milwaukee....And would now like to introduce you to another theater company: Writers Theater in Glencoe, IL. Writers Theater is the third largest company in Chicagoland and has grown to become a cultural destination with a national reputation for excellence. Wall Street Journal called it "America's No. 1 theater company," and after it opened its new state-of-the-art theater in 2016, they wrote, "the best regional drama company in America now has a home worthy of its shows." Their production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Next to Normal promises to be the perfect musical to introduce us to this company.

Next to Normal, directed by Tony award-winning David Cromer (The Band's Visit) is the moving tale of the Goodmans, a seemingly normal American family, with long-buried secrets that threaten to tear them apart. Featuring powerful lyrics and an electrifying score, this explosive musical uses wry humor and brutal honesty to explore how family trauma can fracture the American Dream, while ultimately leading to a chance at new beginnings.
