UW-WC to Sponsor Landscape Contest

Area Firms Unvited to Participate in “Courtyard Creations”

Area landscape firms are invited to enter UW-Washington County’s “Courtyard Creations” landscape contest. The contest is open to all area firms who will submit a construction-ready landscape design for one of four plots in the campus courtyard. Firms can submit one or more designs by the deadline of February 1, 2013.  Designs will be judged by a panel of judges that includes: Melissa Phillips, West Bend Parks landscape architect, Bret Achtenhagen, Seasonal Services, Ltd., and a representative from UW-Washington County.  Winners will be announced on February 15, 2013, with work to be completed during the summer.

Winning design firms will be showcased at the campus’ Festival of Arts on Saturday, April 6. Each winning design firm receives a free selling space as well as the opportunity to present a landscape design/art related seminar. A sign on each plot will identify the winning firm and a permanent plaque will also be installed in or near the courtyard.  In addition, the first place design winner will receive a guest appearance on “The Designer Lawn Show” on AM 620 WTMJ radio.

Interested landscapers are invited to visit the courtyard to take photos or measurements needed in order to complete their design.  For complete contest rules and deadlines, visit the campus website, washington.uwc.edu/events/landscape-contest13.html or contact Sue Bausch  (262-335-5233). The campus is located at 400 University Drive, West Bend.
