UW-WC Plans Four December Concerts

The Alley Cats to Perform Doo-Wop on Dec. 7

The public is invited to sit back and listen to a variety of musical entertainment being offered at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County (UW-WC) in December. Four concerts are being planned including:

Saturday, Dec. 1, 3:00pm: Moraine Symphonic Band

Friday, Dec. 7, 7:30pm: The Alley Cats

Sunday, Dec. 9, 2:00pm: Moraine Chorus

Tuesday, Dec. 18, 7:00pm, Moraine Youth Choir

The four members of The Alley Cats sing a cappella to the greatest songs of the 1950s and 1960s.  Since they began their career at Fullerton College in 1987, they have performed across the country from Disneyland and Jay Leno to the White House. With the perfect blend of musical talent and comedic timing, it’s a very polished show that you won’t want to miss. Tickets for the Alley Cats are $13 adults, $10 seniors (over 62) and $10 youth (under 18) and can be reserved by phoning 262-335-5208 or emailing Wsh-tickets@uwc.edu. The Moraine Symphonic Band concert on Saturday, December 1 will perform much of The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky.  Two movements from Act I and ten of the fifteen movements from Act II will be performed.  Band director, Dr. Daniel Ackley, arranged four of the movements.

Musicians in the band include: Current UW-WC students: Monica Janczak, Tyler Kehrmann, Julia Krecklow,  Barry Lange, Matt Pea, Deb Schleif,  Eric Stein, Tim Struebing, Courtney Summ, and Rebecca Swegle.

Former UW-WC students: Heather Beilke, , Alyssa Gramberg, Craig Johnson, Krista Lyman, and Cheryl Simchick

Community members: Tom Beineke,  Andrew Doyle, Clayton Frounfelker III, Lynnette Garbisch, Richard Gerard, Brenda Halverson, Rachel Holmes, Steve Johnson, Jan Krueger, Harry Link,  Karen Meinert, Cheryl Peshek, Rich Peshek,  Roxanne Pieper, Dan Ratzburg, Paul Schleif, Haley Trier,  Howard Wetzel, and Melissa Worden.

The Moraine Chorus performs on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2:00pm. Music professor, Dr. Peter Gibeau directs the choir, which includes both UW-WC students and community members. The concert will consist of the Mozart Requiem, which will be performed with the organ, as well as a few Christmas songs.

The Moraine Youth Choir will perform on Tuesday, December 18th, at 7:00pm at the UW-WC Theater. Choir members (ages 8-15) will perform a variety of songs in many languages and styles from around the world (including Silent Night, sung in German). The choir is under the direction of Deanna Gibeau, with choreography by Michael Mattek.  Admission is free.
