UW-WC Plans 5K for Kids

Proceeds to Benefit Two Local Non-Profits
By UW-Washington County

The first ever CLEC 5K for Kids is being planned by UW-Washington County’s College Life Exploration Center (CLEC). The date is Saturday, April 29, with registration starting at 8:30am. Proceeds from the event will support two local non-profit organizations focused on helping children. They include Alex’s Lemonade Stand (funds research to end childhood cancer) and Guardians of the Children (support based advocacy for emotionally or physically abused children).

According to Mary Gruel, Student Government President and a CLEC mentor, their goal is to “raise awareness of these two organizations that support children’s physical and mental health, as well as to raise funds to help support them.” General registration for the run/walk is $25 and includes a t-shirt. The deadline is April 21. Participants will meet in the lower student parking lot at the campus located at 400 University Drive in West Bend (8:30am-9am). The walk itself winds through Ridge Run Park and is well marked. The start time for the race/walk is 9:15am.
