UW-Washington County will be holding auditions for the fall production of Gone Missing on Wednesday, September 26 at 7pm in the campus theatre. The cast for the musical documentary includes three leading men and three leading women, all with singing ability. Area residents, ages 18 and over, who are interested in performing are encouraged to audition. The play will be directed and designed by UW-WC Communications and Theatre Professor, Brad Ford. Volunteers for building the set as well as helping with technical and behind-the-scenes work are also needed. College credit can be earned for performing or doing crew work for the show.
Gone Missing is a delightful comic revue that explores a variety of very personal accounts of things “gone missing.” We’re all afraid of losing things! Our keys, our passports, our pets, our spouses – even our minds! From a wedding ring to a Gucci shoe, the lost items eulogized in the play tend to be high-priced, stylish and – above all – sorely missed. Dealing with their losses sends the owners into fits of desperation and shows the ways in which we deal with loss in our lives.
Gone Missing was created in 2001 by The Civilians, an acting company that interviewed more than 30 New Yorkers to create a familiar panorama of urban eccentricity from a Pakistani cabbie to a cell-phone addicted yuppie. It was written by Steven Cossen from interviews by the Company, with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. It is being performed with special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. Energetic and lively, Gone Missing mostly flies by and runs just 75 minutes (plus one intermission).
Four performances of Gone Missing are planned for Friday and Saturday evenings, November 2-3 and 9-10 at 7:30pm. All performances will be in the campus theatre, located on the second floor of the campus. For ticket reservations, phone 262-335-5208 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
