WCC-All Tournament Team
Amber Herbst, a freshman at UW-Washington County was recently named to the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference –All Tournament Team. A graduate of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, Amber recently led UW-WC’s volleyball team with 49 kills out of 85 attempts, hitting accuracy of 43%, serving at 90% with 10 ace serves out of a total of 47 serving attempts and 26 digs. Amber was ranked #1 in the American pool, competing against five other campuses for the three top positions on the WCC team.
According to her coach, Debbie Butschlick, “In tournament play, there is always a player that you hate to compete against because of their talent. Amber was the player that the other teams hated to play against.”
Three UW-WC players made the 2-15 WCC Eastern Division All-Conference Team, including Michaela Millard, Amber Herbst and Lizzy Geoffroy.
Michaela Millard was selected to the First Team All-Conference. As an outside hitter, she was second on the team with 141 kills out of 404 attempts., served with 90% accuracy, second on the team with 39 ace serves, had 156 digs, and 6 blocks. Michaela is a freshman at UW-WC and a graduate of Living Word High School.
Amber Herbst was selected to the First Team All-Conference and was also named PLAYER OF THE YEAR. As an outside hitter, Amber led the team in all but one category. She had 235 kills out of 461 attempts, served with 87% accuracy with 54 ace serves, had 167 digs, and 21 blocks. Amber is a freshman at UW-WC and is a graduate of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School
Lizzy Geoffroy was selected to the Second Team All-Conference. As a middle hitter, Lizzy had 64 kills out of 207 attempts, led the team with 92% serving accuracy, 29 ace serves, had 188 digs, and 9 blocks. Lizzy is a third year player at UW-WC and a graduate of Hartford Union High School

Marisa Moser was also selected as Defensive Player of the Year!!
For the State Tournament we played in 16 sets (8 matches). Mikkin was second on the team with 47 kills, 30 digs, and served at 95%, Marisa had 141 digs (8.9 digs per set), 5 kills, and served at 94% second on the team with 13 ace serves, Whitney led the team with 51 kills, 44 digs, and served at 100% with 5 ace serves.
To have 3 player be placed into six spots on the First Team All-Conference is a great achievement. When you look at there were 7 teams eligible for this honor. This just completed a great season in addition to winning the WCC Eastern Division Championship and taking the Runner Up trophy in the WCC State tournament. We are very proud not only at the team for their accomplishments, but also to these three players for their outstanding accomplishments.

Mikkin had 47 kills and 30 digs, while Marisa had 141 digs and 13 ace serves for the tournament.

WCC State Volleyball Tournament, October 18 & 19
The volleyball season is over and what a successful season it was. As you know the volleyball team finished their league season by winning the WCC Eastern Division Championship. We also played hard during the WCC State Tournament this past weekend and finished in 2nd place.
We were ranked #1 in our pool. (I have attached the program with the final results)
We played hard throughout the entire tournament. The Team peaked at just the right time. During the finals match we were under size in height, but we played hard leaving everything on the court. We did everything we possibly could do against UW-Marathon. During that match Mikkin Abfall led the team with 7 kills, Shauna Poppe had 11 assists and Marisa Moser had 14 digs, Lizzy Geoffroy had 13 digs and Shauna Poppe has 12. But I think that the most impressive stats are for the entire tournament.

Wednesday, October 15, 2015 vs UW-Sheboygan
We just completed our last game of the season against UW-Sheboygan and we won 25 – 18, 25 – 19, 25 – 10.
The team play extremely well against UW-Sheboygan. UW-Sheboygan has a lot of very talented players and we worked to be able to play against them. We continue to stress defense and hustle which really paid off for us during the match. We had a never die attitude going into the match. It was great to see the team come together and play outstanding volleyball.
Mikkin Abfall led the team with 10 kills and 13 digs.
Adrienne Leemon had 6 kills and 3 blocks
Whitney Bastian had 5 kills and 8 digs
Marisa Moser led the team with 35 digs and 3 ace serves.
Shauna Poppe had 28 assists for kills and 3 ace serves.
Our WCC Record is 5 – 1 and overall 11 – 2.
Monday, October 13, 2014 vs UW-Marinette
We played out final WCC Eastern Division conference match last night against UW-Marinette. Going into the match we had already secured the 2014 Eastern Division Championship, but we wanted to go undefeated in the Division. This is the 8th year in a row that UW-Washington County has won the title.
After a 2 ½ hour match we lost 28 – 26, 13 -25, 25 – 14, 26 – 24, 13 – 15
The team played their hearts out during the entire match. In looking at the stats our biggest down fall was our serving as we missed 13 serves in the match.
Whitney Bastian had 13 kills and 13 digs.
Mikkin Abfall had 12 kills
Adrienne Leemon had 11 kills,
Marisa Moser had 42 digs and 2 ace serves
Lizzy Geoffroy had 22 digs and Lindsay Griggs had 16 digs
Shauna Poppe had 41 assists for kills
Wednesday, October 8, 2014 vs UW-Baraboo
We played in a non-conference volleyball match against UW-Baraboo.
We won 25 - 14, 25 - 13, 25 - 15
Marisa Moser played an awesome defensive match tonight. Digging volleyball that seemed like one could get at. She led the team with 21 digs and 2 ace serves. Lindsay Griggs and Shauna Poppe had 11 digs each
Adrienne Leemon had 10 kills
Whitney Bastian had 8 kills
Mikkin Abfall had 7 kills.
Shauna Poppe had 32 assists for kills and 3 ace serves.
As a team we had a total of 63 digs for the match. We really covered a lot of the court tonight. The team as a whole did a great job of reading the offense of the opponent.
We are 10 - 1 overall and 5 - 0 in the. WCC Eastern Division Conference.
Monday, October 6, 2014 vs UW-Manitowoc
We played a WCC Eastern Division match against UW-Manitowoc last night.
We won 25 – 19, 25 – 17, 25 – 20
Our play was a little uneven during the match. We had some really great moments and other moments we did not click very well as a team. Our game plan was again to concentrate on defense. As a team are kill rate was .250, we would like to see the kill rate at about .375. We have a little time to perfect some of last night errors in getting ready for the WCC State Tournament in two weeks.

Saturday, October 4, 2014 vs Silver Lake
We won 25 – 15, 25 – 12, 25 – 16
We again focused on defense which really paid off. Marisa Moser had 20 digs, Lindsay Griggs had 11 digs, Mikkin Abfall and Shauna Poppe had 8 each. It was nice to see that everyone as really picking up their game on the defense side.
Offensively we are converting more kills as a team, we had a kill rate of .313.
Whitney Bastian led the team with 10 kills, Mikkin Abfall had 9 kills, but Adrienne Leemon had the game of her life with 8 kills and 6 blocks. Adrienne is starting to set the opponents offensive sets better and is get a head start in her blocking decisions. Shauna had 33 assists for kills and two ace serves.
Wednesday, October 1, 2014 vs UW-Waukesha
We played a great match against UW-Waukesha tonight. The scores do not reflect the play, but the team played super defense and really picked up their serving game. We had worked hard during practice on strong serves and placement serving. This really paid off for us tonight. We served at 94% as a team with 13 ace serves and 6 miss serves for the match.
The scores for the match were 25-13, 25-11, 25-12.
Whitney Bastian and Mikkin Abfall each had 7 kills, while Adrienne Leemon and Deanne Leppla had 4 kills. Marisa Moser had 18 digs and 4 ace serves. Lindsay Griggs and Lizzy Geoffroy had 9 digs each. Shauna Poppe had 18 assists for kills.
As a team we had only 7 hitting errors for the match.
Monday, September 29, 2014 vs UW-Sheboygan
UW-WC women's volleyball team played a WCC Eastern Division match against UW-Sheboygan tonight.
We won 25 - 12, 25 - 23, 25 - 23.
Shauna Poppe did a great job moving the ball around to different hitter tonight, having 24 assists for kills. Mikkin Abfall lead the team with 9 kills, 8 digs and 3 blocks. Adrienne Leemon had 7 kills and 2 blocks, Deanne Lepple and Whitney Bastian each had 6 kills. Marisa Moser ahd 33 digs while Lindsay Griggs 12 digs and Lizzy Geoffroy had 8 digs.
Wednesday, September 24, 2014 vs UW-Fox Valley Valley
UW-WC women's volleyball team played a non-conference match against UW-Fox Valley tonight.
We won 25-17, 25-10, 25-11. We did not play well. The team just was not able to mesh well.
But the team continued to work hard as a group to fight through the rocky play.
Whitney Bastian led the team with 10 kills, Marisa Moser had 30 digs while Lindsay Griggs has 12.digs
Shauna Poppe led the team with 5 ace serves, and 21 assists for kills.
Monday, September 22, 2014 vs UW-Richland
We won 27 - 29, 25 - 13, 25 - 23, 25 - 9
This was a tough match coming off the lost against UW-Marathon last week. The team played intensed and put last weekends match behind them. We rallied tough through the match against UW-Richland. Hits that we thought were down the opponent was able to dig up. The team really started to jelly after the first set.
Mikkin Abfall led the team with 15 kills, followed by Whitney Bastian with 11 kills, 3 ace serves and 3 solo blocks. Adrienne Leemon had a match high 4 blocks and 10 kills. Marisa Moser led the team with 34 digs, followed by Lindsay Griggs with 18. Marisa and Lindsay each had 3 ace serves. Shauna Poppe had 42 assists for kills, and 12 digs

Saturday, September 20, 2014 vs UW-Marathon
We played tough against UW-Marathon, but just could not put enough together for the match. We lost 25-9, 22-25, 14-25, 14-25
The team just could not get in sync with each other. When we had one part of the game working the other two part just did not come together. The second match we played outstanding defense which allowed our offense to start making plays. The team playing hard throughout the entire match
Both Whitney Bastian and Mikkin Abfall had 5 kills each, Shauna Poppe had 12 assists, and Marisa Moser had 29 digs.
We are 1 – 0 in the WCC Conference and 3 – 1 overall.
Wednesday, September 17, 2014 vs UW-Fond du Lac
The scores do not indicate the talent that UW- Fond du lac has, but our team worked very hard for every point. We did an awesome job at playing defense. Marisa Moser just cover the whole back row. She complied 32 digs for the night with Lindsay Griggs had 10 digs. Marisa also led the team with 4 ace serves.
Shauna Poppe is really starting to pick up the offense. She is working hard at keeping every offense set as quick as possible. Shauna also did a great job of spreading out the sets that she dished out to her teammates. She ended with 30 assists. Whitney Bastian led the team with 9 kills, followed closely by Mikkin Abfall with 8 kills.
We are 1 - 0 in conference and 3 - 0 overall.
Friday, September 12, 2014 - vs UW- Fox Valley
We did not play well. The team just was not able to mesh well. But the team continued to work hard as a group to fight through the rocky play.

Shauna Poppe led the team with 5 ace serves, and 21 assists for kills. This is our first conference match.

This was a great match to start off the season. Everyone played as a unit.
Whitney Bastian and Mikkin Abfall led the offensive side of the game, while Marisa Moser and Lindsay Griggs helped with the defensive side.

We are 6-0 in the WCC Eastern Division Conference, giving us the championship! This is the sixth year in a row that we have won this championship. We have an overall record of 13-0.

Game Highlights: Kaity Murphy led the team with 10 of 12 hitting with 8 kills, Mallory Kougl was also 10 of 12 with 5 kills, Whitney Bastian was 7 of 9 with 4 kills, and Amanda Lehnerz was 8 of 8 hitting with 4 kills. Marisa Moser had 15 digs and Brianna Rocheleau was 38 of 40 setting with 20 assists for kills. Our next match is Monday, October 7th at UW-Manitowoc. This is our last conference match of the season. Our WCC Conference record is 4-0 and our Overall record is 12-0 .

Mallory Kougl was 15 of 15 serving with 5 ace serves, Amanda Lehnerz was 14 of 15 werving with 4 ace serves, Marisa Moser was 14 of 15 serving with 2 ace serves and Lizzy Goeffroy was 12 of 12 serving with 3 ace serves. The team had a combined total of 16 ace serves with 5 service errors. Marisa Moser had 30 digs (a season high) and Amanda Lehnerz had 13 digs. Briana Rocheleau was 65 of 65 setting with 35 assists for kills. Our next match is on Saturday at Noon home against UW-Marinette.
September 23 Games versus UW-Richland and Viterbo JV
Game Highlights: We played a triangular match at UW- Richland last night along with Viterbo J.V. We won both matches. Our intensity during the first match against UW-Richland was not as high, but then we really pick up the pace against Viterbo J.V. During the Viterbo match our offense was faster because we were able to play much better defense.

Marisa Moser also led the team with 15 digs and Briana Rocheleau was 37 of 37 setting with 14 assists for kills.

Game Highlights: Amanda Lehnerz was 15 of 19 hitting with 9 kills, Mallory Kougl was 9 of 13 hitting with 7 kills, Kaity Murphy was 10 of 10 hitting with 6 kills, and Whitney Bastian was 14 of 16 hitting with 6 kills. The team’s serving was a little shaky, but Amanda Lehnerz, Mallory Kougl, and Marisa Moser each had 2 ace serves. Marisa Moser led the team with 21 digs followed by Amanda Lehnerz with 14 digs. Briana Rocheleau was 60 of 61 setting with 26 assists.
Coach's Comments: The UW-WC Volleyball team played in a triangular match this past week. It was great to see teams that were able to hit the ball hard and play defense. Both UW-Marathon and Northland International University put the UW-WC volleyball team to the test. The two matches showed us what we excelled at and what we need to work on.

Game Highlights: Northland was a very strong hitting team. In the second set of the match we were down 17 – 21. The team really pulled together to make a great comeback to win. The team’s determination to win that set really showed what this team can do. Amanda Lehnerz was 21 of 23 hitting with 13 kills, Mallory Kougl was 17 of 19 with 12 kills, and Whitney Bastian was 16 of 18 with 8 kills. Kaity Murphy was out with a Hip flexor injury so Brittany Swartwout (2 kills) and Lizzy Geoffroy (4 kills) really set up their game to fill in. Lindsay Griggs led the team with 22 of 23 serving attempts with 1 ace serve. Marisa Moser had 24 digs and Briana Rocheleau with 69 of 71 setting with 31 assists for kills.

Lindsay Griggs of 16 of 17 serves with 4 ace serves. Marisa Moser of 12 of 15 serves with 3 ace serves.
We are 4 – 0 overall and 1 – 0 in the Eastern Division. Our next match is on Friday (away) at Northland International University against Northland International University and UW-Marathon.
