The public is invited to enjoy three community concerts free-of-charge at The University of Wisconsin-Washington County (UW-WC) in December. The concerts include:
Saturday, Dec. 7, 3:00pm: Moraine Symphonic Band & Washington County Youth Orchestra
Sunday, Dec. 8, 2:00pm: Moraine Chorus
Tuesday, Dec. 10, 7:00pm, Moraine Youth Choir
Two bands- the Moraine Symphonic Band and the Washington County Youth Orchestra will combine forces to present a concert this Saturday, December 7 at 3pm. The bands are under the direction of Dr. Daniel Ackley in UW-WC’s Music Department.
The Moraine Chorus performs on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2:00pm. UW-WC Music professor, Dr. Peter Gibeau directs the choir, which includes both UW-WC students and community members. The featured works of the Moraine Chorus concert are two Psalm settings by Felix Mendelssohn (115 and 42), accompanied by a string quartet from the Kettle Moraine Symphony. Soloists include soprano Beatrice Gerfin, tenor Eric Stein, and baritone Lester Hahn. Other works on the program include a cappella performances of the Welsh folksong All through the Night, a madrigal by John Dowland, a brief choral work by Claude Debussy, and the Spiritual My Lord, what a Morning. The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will donation will be collected for the Full Shelf Food Pantry of West Bend.
The Moraine Youth Choir presents a lively program of music that will appeal to the whole family on Tuesday, December 10 at 7:00pm, in the UW-WC Theater. From classical, to folk to popular tunes beloved by all, be ready for a joyful choral time with these young singers, with a reception to follow. The choir is under the direction of Deanna Gibeau. Admission is free.
