UW-WC Announces Videoconferencing Capabilities

UW-Washington County (UW-WC) is sharing its technological expertise with the community by offering videoconferencing capabilities to area businesses and organizations. UW-WC has two video conference rooms available with capacities of ten and 30 people. Both rooms have computer, DVD, VCR and electronic document presentation capabilities.  Business applications could include depositions, department meetings, job interviews, public hearings, sales presentations, and training sessions. 

Digital technology makes it possible to link to several sites worldwide at the same time and with video conferencing, both voice and visual contact is possible with the sites. Because video conferencing travels over a digital connection, electronic documents can also be shared.

Rental fees for the video conferencing facilities are $150 per hour/per site. Lower fees are available for public and non-profit agencies. This includes a fully trained technical operator present during the conferencing. Additional line or bridging charges may also apply, depending on the conference. The key benefits to using video conferencing are cost savings, time savings and convenience. The cost is a fraction of what it would cost to bring several people together at one site for a meeting, especially if air travel is involved.
