UW-WC ANNOUNCES 2010 CAMPUS AWARDS

Special recognitions to be given at May 20 Commencement Ceremony
5/13/10

Several special awards will be presented at UW-Washington County’s Commencement ceremony on Thursday evening, May 20.  These awards include 2010 Outstanding Alumna, Service Recognition Award and seven Department Awards.

OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS AWARD

Dr. Scott Fellenz of Menomonee Fallswill receive the Outstanding Alumnus Award for 2010.
Dr. Fellenz attended UW-Washington County and received an Associate Degree in 1981.  He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology at UW-Madison. Continuing his studies at the new School of Veterinary Medicine at UW-Madison, Fellenz graduated in the top 10% of his class with a degree in Veterinary Medicine.

Five years after graduation, Dr. Fellenz opened the Family Pet Clinic in Menomonee Falls. Today, the clinic is well established and has a great reputation in the community. He currently employs four other veterinarians and has 25 support staff.

Dr. Fellenz has much to say about getting his best start at UW-WC: “I chose UW-Washington County because of the smaller class sizes, professor accessibility and also for financial reasons. What I found was that the quality of education was excellent. The professors are there to teach and are dedicated educators. In my entire eight year college career, the best and most memorable professors were from UW-WC. The accessibility of the professors for help with subject matter was incredible. They were readily available and eager to help. The professors expected a lot but they also gave a lot to help students achieve their goals. The small campus and availability of the professors saves a lot of time when a student needs help because it’s not necessary to run all over a large campus. I am proud of my education and the time I spent at UW-WC. So much so, that I have recommended, without equivocation, that my nephew and nieces attend UW-WC to start their collegiate careers.”

Dr. Fellenz’s professional interests include soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, ultrasound of the heart and abdomen, endoscopy and cardiology.

SERVICE RECOGNITION AWARD

Dan Cibrario will receive a Service Recognition Award from Assistant Dean Martha Nelson.  Dan has been advising and counseling UW-WC students since 1997. As Senior Student Services Coordinator, Dan’s office door has always been open to students. Whether in need of assistance in planning their schedules or determining what credits are needed to transfer, Dan’s patient and calm demeanor, along with his broad knowledge of academic curriculum have served students well over the years.
