ProArte String Quartet at UW-WC

Residents invited to attend Music
Appreciation classes
prior to concert
The
talented and renowned, Pro Arte String Quartet will perform
classical and contemporary music in UW-Washington County’s theatre
on Friday, February 10. The performance begins at 7:30pm and
incorporates a variety
of styles.
Prior to the concert, community
residents are invited to attend Professor Peter Gibeau’s Music
Literature & Appreciation classes on February 6 and 8. Dr. Gibeau
will play and discuss the music that the Pro Arte Quartet will
perform at the concert. The classroom discussion takes place from
11am to 11:50am in Room FA229 at the campus. No reservation is
necessary to attend the classes and there is no charge.
ProArte’s members include David Perry
and Suzanne Beia, violin; Parry Karp, cello; and Sally Chisholm,
viola. In residence at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, their
duties range from formal concerts and radio broadcasts to a variety
of educational activities. The quartet tours both nationally and
internationally, often presenting premieres of new works, many of
which are written for the ensemble. The quartet was the first
ensemble-in-residence at a major American university and upholds a
nearly 90-year tradition as one of the world’s most distinguished
string quartets.
Tickets for the Friday performance are
$8 adults, $6 seniors and youth under 18. (Students at UW-WC will be
admitted free with student id.) Tickets are available at the door or
