UWC Department of History
Faculty Inter-Institutional Exchange Policy
Statement: The UWC Department of History recognizes that an opportunity to teach advanced courses for another institution enhances department faculty teaching horizons and skills. The department encourages these teaching opportunities with the least amount of disruption to Colleges students and history curriculum. The following policy is established to ensure these goals.
1. Negotiations for a faculty exchange may be initiated by any of the parties
involved in the exchange.
2. The Department Chair will be informed of all contacts and approve all
inter-institutional faculty exchanges.
3. Before any exchange is approved, the Department of History Curriculum
Committee will evaluate the impact of that exchange on the history
curriculum and report its findings to the Department Chair.
4. All exchange courses taught for Colleges’ credit must be evaluated by the
History Department Curriculum Committee and receive a positive
recommendation of both the committee and Department Chair.
5. All exchanges must be approved one semester before they take place.
6. Exchange courses taught by UWC history faculty should be at a Junior
level or above.
7. Replacements for UWC Department of History faculty must be approved
by the Department of History Executive Committee and must meet
department teaching standards.
8. Individual faculty members may participate in exchanges once every three
semesters.
