ADDENDUM:  PH.D. OR EQUIVALENT DEGREE

Ph.D. or equivalent degree.  “Equivalent degree” is defined as (1) completion of all requirements for the Ph.D., except the dissertation, plus the acceptance for publication of two articles of reasonable substance in a reasonably respectable scholarly journal or book, or (2) possession of the Doctor of Arts, plus the acceptance for publication of two articles of reasonable substance in a reasonably respectable scholarly journal or book.  Articles presented in support of a candidacy under this provision shall be in history or political science, whichever is applicable, and shall not be pedagogical in nature.   Adopted March 27, 1976.
