UW-Washington County (UW-WC) Lady Wildcats volleyball team ended a spectacular season with a second place finish in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference State Volleyball Tournament this past weekend. The team went undefeated in pool play with an 8 – 0 record allowing them to be seeded first in the semi-final match. The team won the semi-finals match against UW-Marinette with scores of 25 – 20 and 28 – 26. The team then lost the match against UW-Barron in three games with scores of 25 – 27, 25 – 10, 15 – 17. Stacy Chesak was named to the WCC All -Tournament Team. According to Debbie Butschlick, UW-WC Athletic Director and volleyball coach, “Everyone played their hearts out during the tournament. The team finally peaked at the right time. Offensively and defensively the team came together in one working unit.”
The previous weekend, the team won the Eastern Divisional Championship with a 5-0 record. Their final match was against UW- Fox Valley with scores of 25 - 20, 25 - 16, 19 - 25, and 25 - 16. This was the sixth time in the nine years since 2003, when the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference (WCC) was split into Eastern and Western Divisions, that UW-WC has won the Eastern Divisional championship. They also won in 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010.
UW-Washington County is located at 400 University Drive (off Hwy. 33 West) in West Bend.
