Mountain Heart, a six-piece bluegrass band from Tennessee, will kick off the Fine Arts series at UW-Washington County (UW-WC) on Friday, September 28 with a concert at 7:30pm in UW-WC’s Theatre on the Hill. The Grammy nominated band has shared the stage with acts ranging from Lynryd Skynyrd to George Jones and has appeared on the revered stage of the Grand Ole Opry more than 125 times.
Their show is exceptionally energetic and is known for integrating all styles of music (moving blues, country and rock) onto a solid foundation of bluegrass roots. Since their creation in 1999, the group has gained legions of loyal fans as a result of their excellent musical talents and exciting live performances. Their recordings include: That Just Happened; Road That Never Ends, Wide Open; Forces of Nature; No Other Way; The Journey; and Mountain Heart. The band includes Josh Schilling (vocals, guitar); Jim Van Cleve (fiddle); Barry Abernathy (banjo); Jason Moore (bass); Aaron Ramsey (mandolin, dobro) and Seth Taylor (guitar).
Tickets for Friday’s performance are $13 adults, $10 seniors (over 62) and youth (under 18). Tickets may be purchased at the door (while supplies last) or in the main office between 8am and 5pm Monday through Thursday and 8am to 4:30pm on Friday.
