The University of Wisconsin-Washington County will recognize the accomplishments of 189 students at the annual Commencement ceremony on Thursday evening, May 23.
The keynote speaker is Jon Sanfilippo, District Court Executive for the U.S. District Court in Milwaukee. An alumnus of UW-WC, Sanfilippo was a member of the campus’s inaugural class and served as Student Government president. After earning his associate degree, he transferred to UW-Milwaukee, where he completed a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science Degrees. This was followed by a Juris Doctorate in Law from Marquette University. Sanfilippo serves as District Court Executive for the U.S. District Court in Milwaukee, a position he has held since 2007.
An 8th degree black belt, Judo has been a passion for Sanfilippo for most of his life. He helped form the West Bend Judo Club in 1967 and has taught judo classes for many years here on campus.
The student speaker is Vanya Koepke of West Bend, President of Student Government. Koepke plans to double major in Public Administration and Political Science at UW-Green Bay.
Students, who have recently completed or will be completing their degree requirements this summer, will be recognized at the ceremony. Twenty students will receive a four-year bachelor degree and 168 students will receive their two-year associate degrees for the 2012-2013 academic year.
The collaborative bachelor degree program allows students to complete a 4-year degree from UW-Milwaukee and UW-Oshkosh, while attending classes in West Bend. Students earning a bachelor degree from UW-Milwaukee include:

Scholarships totaling over $70,000 as well as departmental awards will also be awarded at the ceremony, which begins with a bagpiper led processional at 7pm in the gymnasium. The UW-WC Saxtet will perform prior to the ceremony, (beginning at 6:30pm) as well as the recessional. No tickets are needed to attend.
