UW-Washington County’s third annual photography competition received 85 entries from around
the state. The contest was open to amateur Wisconsin photographers over the age of 16, with entries accepted between October 1, 2013 and January 5, 2014.
Judging will be completed in late March by Josh Lesniak, Art Professor at UW-WC; Graeme Reid, Assistant Director at Wisconsin Museum of Art; and Lynn Molenda, a local art educator. Judges will be looking for striking digital images that have all the components of good photography with an emphasis on creativity, composition, and originality.
The top 15 entries will be framed and on display in the Art Gallery during the Festival of Arts on Saturday, April 5 (10am-4pm). Top winners will be recognized in a ceremony at the Festival, beginning at noon in the theatre. Dr. Paul Price, UW-WC Dean and Iva Thelen, WCCF Director will award cash prizes and certificates to the top winners and show a Power Point presentation of the photographs.
All of the photo entries can be viewed prior to the Festival on the campus Pinterest site at:
After the Festival, the top three entries will remain on permanent display at UW-Washington County, each with a plaque giving credit to the photographer. The other top photos will be on display in the main lobby for one year – until next year’s Festival.
UW-Washington County is building a collection of photography that has added visual interest and beauty to the campus and is enjoyed by students as well as the community year-round.
