UW-WC Announces Student Art Contest Winners

The University of Wisconsin-Washington County (UW-WC) is pleased to announce the names of the middle and high school students who took top awards in the 2011 art contest.  Twenty-eight schools entered artwork for the contest, with a total of 184 middle school entries and 174 high school entries. All of the artwork will be on display at the Winter Arts Festival which will be held at the West Bend campus on Saturday, January 29 from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.

Four categories of artwork were included in the judging, including: 3-D; 2D and Mixed Media; Black and White, and Other. Judging was completed by UW-WC Assistant Art Professor, Joshua Lesniak; Graeme Reid, Assistant Director of Wisconsin Museum of Art and Vicki Ebben (former middle school art teacher). Emphasis was placed on composition, originality, creativity, and use of space and color.

In addition to the student artwork, the Festival features the artwork of 13 area art teachers; an arts and crafts sale with over 50 professional artists; music and dance performances and a winter farmer’s market. Admission and parking are free.  UW-WashingtonCounty is located at 400 University Drive (just off Hwy 33 West) in West Bend.
