The University of Wisconsin-Washington County (UW-WC) is pleased to announce that Musical Masquers, a local theatre production company, will become the campus’ resident theatre group for the 2014-15 season. While Musical Masquers has long been performing on UW-WC’s stage, the new arrangement will allow for UW-WC to manage the ticket sales for all Musical Masquers performances at the campus. In addition, the Musical Masquers performances are included in UW-WC’s fine arts brochure as well as marketing materials on campus. While the agreement is for the upcoming year, the hope is that this will become a long-standing arrangement, allowing both parties to benefit.
Performing in Washington County for over 50 years, Musical Masquers is West Bend’s longest running community theatre group, staging as many as four shows per season. The non-profit group already sponsors an annual $500 scholarship, with funds benefitting a UW-WC student who is majoring in theatre arts. UW-WC Dean, Paul Price stated, “We at the campus are pleased to make the Musical Masquers a resident theatre group. Not only is it long past time for us to fully recognize the Musical Masquers for what they bring to local community, we would like to acknowledge them for what the appreciative audiences they have brought to campus for so many years. And by doing so, we hope to provide better service for the community, the campus, and for Musical Masquers.” Musical Masquers President, Larry Loomans, is “excited about the new opportunities” and looks forward to working closer with the UW-WC staff.
Tickets are available for purchase on UW-WC’s website, www.washington.uwc.edu. Patrons may also purchase tickets in person at the campus main office, by phone (262)-335-5208 or email (firstname.lastname@example.org). Tickets purchased in advance offer a $1 saving per ticket. The UW-WC theatre is located on the second floor of the college at 400 University Drive in West Bend. Free parking is available.
