UW-WC Accepting Entries to Juried Arts Fair

Winter Art Festival 2012 in the Works

After hosting a successful 2011 Winter Arts Festival, plans are already in the works for a repeat event in 2012. UW-Washington County (UW-WC) will host a juried arts fair as part of the Winter Festival planned for Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 10am to 4pm. Over 55 artists from Wisconsin and neighboring states participated in the 2011 art fair.

Area artists are encouraged to apply to the art fair, which is open to all artists (18 and over) who exhibit work of original concept, design and execution. All items must be handcrafted and will be juried. No manufactured items, kits, unfinished wood cut-outs or imports will be allowed. Artists will be limited to 60, with artwork on display in the gymnasium as well as lobbies on the campus. Booth sizes in the gymnasium are 8x10 ($40) and 10x10 ($45). Booth spaces in the lobby are 8x10 and available for $35. Electric is available for the 10x10 spaces for an additional fee of $20. Tables are also available for rental, on a first-come, first serve basis. The fee includes a credit for lunch.

A Winter Farmers Market is also being planned for the event. The 8x8 spaces in the cafeteria are available for $25 each.  Preference will be given to merchants with homegrown and locally made products, including breads and baked goods, cheese, doggy treats, jams and jellies, honey, produce and yogurt.

The 2012 Winter Arts Festival will also include a student art contest for middle and high school students. In 2011, 28 schools participated in the contest.  Each school is able to submit up to 16 pieces of art in four categories. Student artwork will be on display throughout the campus during the Festival. Following the Festival, the top two winners’ artwork in each category will be displayed at The Wisconsin Museum of Art.
