Ray Cross, the Chancellor of University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin-Extension, today released the names of the candidates for Campus Executive Officer / Dean at UW-Washington County.
The four finalists are:
Todd Berry has been president of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance, a nonpartisan public policy research organization, since 1994. Prior to his current position he was the marketing manager for Jones Dairy Farm from 1983-1993. Berry earned his doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MBA at University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, an MCP1 at Harvard University, and a bachelor’s degree in political science and French at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Brian P. Miller has served as assistant to the president/director of Institutional Effectiveness at Pitt Community College in Greenville, North Carolina since 2001. Prior to his current position, he served as the Director of Research and Program Manager for the National Initiative for Leadership and Institutional Effectiveness at North Carolina State University from 1998-2001. Miller earned his doctorate in higher education administration at North Carolina State University, his master’s in experiential education at Mankato State University and his bachelor’s in recreation and leisure studies at Iowa State University.
Alan Paul Price has served as the interim campus executive officer and dean at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County since April 2010. He has been an associate professor at UW-Washington County since 2004 and has taught at various UW Colleges campuses since 1996, including UW-Washington County, UW-Manitowoc, and UW-Fond du Lac. He has also taught at UW-Oshkosh, UW-Parkside, Santa Monica College, UCLA, and Texas Tech University. Price earned his doctorate in Geography at the University of California, Los Angeles, and both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Geology at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
Myriah J. Short has served as the interim vice president of administrative services/COO at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio since 2010. Prior to this position she was senior director of institutional research and planning from 2009-10 and the New College academic dean from 2005-2009 at Hocking College. Short earned her doctorate in cultural studies and a master’s in higher education at Ohio University and a bachelor’s in International Relations at the University of Toledo.
Campus visits will be scheduled for each of the finalists in April so they can meet with faculty, staff, students and community members. The schedule will be posted on the UW-Washington County CEO/dean search website, http://uwc.edu/deansearch/wsh/when it is finalized.
In May, Chancellor Cross will submit his recommendation for the next UW-Washington County CEO/dean to the UW System Board of Regents in time to be considered at the board’s June meeting. The next CEO/dean will succeed David Nixon who left in May 2010 to become vice president for academic and student affairs at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. Paul Price currently serves as interim CEO/dean.
UW-Washington County is part of the University of Wisconsin Colleges, the UW System’s network of 13 freshman/sophomore campuses and UW Colleges Online that offers an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree and prepares students of all ages and backgrounds for baccalaureate and professional programs. The CEO /dean is the chief operating officer and chief academic officer of the campus.
