UW-Washington County will host the annual Festival of Arts this Saturday, April 14 from 10am to 4pm.  The popular event includes a juried student art competition, "Socks and Rocks" - a new make and take workshop by BrendaPetersonLLC, live music by student

and professional groups, a farmer’s market and the famous Artists Market Place, where one-of-a-kind original works in a wide variety of media from over 40 Wisconsin artists are available to purchase.

Over 400 pieces of artwork from the most promising art students representing 28 middle and high schools from a five county region will be on display on the second floor of the campus. Judging for the student art show is complete, with the High School Best of Show award going to Austin Fischer, a junior at Kewaskum High School, for his photograph of a young woman sitting at a desk. Middle School Best of Show was awarded to Kelsey Wozniak, an 8th grade student at Menomonee Falls North Middle School for her colorful digital image.  A complete list of winners follows this release.

This year's Festival of Arts is co-sponsored by Commerce State Bank and Zimmerman Architectural Studios, with all proceeds supporting scholarships for UW-WC students.  Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for students, and children under 12 are admitted free of charge. Commerce State Bank is also offering free tickets at their area branches. Performances and visual art workshops are included in the price of admission.  The campus cafeteria Bistro on the Hill has expanded its menu for the event, with specialty items available only during the event. The UW-WC campus is located at 400 University Drive in West Bend. UWWC and the Washington County Campus Foundation are partnering to host this event.

More information about the Festival of Arts can be found at wccf-wi.org.
