UW-Washington County’s Continuing Education department will be offering two new summer camps this summer for high school students. For students who are thinking of being their own boss, a new one-day course, “Growing Entrepreneurs” will be offered on Thursday, July 10. Co-sponsored by UW-WC/Continuing Education and UW-Extension/4H Youth development, the camp includes activities that will uncover the student’s potential for entrepreneurship as well as the fundamentals of developing a business plan. The cost for the 9am-4pm camp is $49 (which includes lunch and program materials).
A new week-long camp, “Explore Engineering” (June 23-27) offers an in depth look at the different careers in engineering as well as hands-on experiments and team projects that allow students to put their new knowledge to work. One college credit will be earned by those successfully completing the course, which also includes site visits and one-on-one time with local engineers at a variety of area firms. Modeled after UW-Platteville’s accredited program, the cost of the week long camp is $425, which includes daily lunch and all program materials.
Registration for popular youth athletics summer camps is now open. Camps in basketball, volleyball, and soccer are being offered for students in grades 1-12. A complete schedule, along with camp fees, skills covered and coaching staff is available online. For more information about any of these summer programs, visit the youth athletics or youth programming sections of the UW-WC website or phone 262-335-5218.
