Admission Requirements
A Complete Admission File includes:
- UW System Application for Admission (more info)
- $44 Application Fee (non-refundable)
- High School Transcripts and/or GED verification
- Prior College Transcripts (if applicable)
- ACT or SAT Scores (if under 21 years of age)

Before you can register for classes, you must first meet admission requirements and be accepted for admittance. See the specific requirements below.

| New Freshman Recent high school graduate or HSED/GED holder (under age 21). High school graduates must have a minimum of 17 college preparatory credits (see table below). |

New Freshman: ACT (American College Test) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores must be received by the UW Colleges before you will be permitted to register for classes. |
| Returning Adult Student Students entering UW-Washington County at 22 years of age or older. |
Contact your high school and request that a copy of your official high school transcript be mailed to UW-WC.
ACT score information is not required if you are 21 years of age or older. Mail completed application to UW-WC along with $44 fee. |
Returning adult students should contact the office of Student Services at (262) 335-5201 and request an appointment with our Returning Adult Advisor, Chris Roland. He will review your background and experience, explore your goals and help determine the best educational start for the life you want. More information for returning adult students. |
| Re-entry Students Degree seeking student previously enrolled at a UW Colleges campus but not enrolled the previous semester. |
Re-entry students should contact the Student Services office at 262-335-5201 to make an appointment with one of the academic advisors. | |
| Transfer Students Students with credits earned at another university or technical college and are in good academic standing. |
Contact any colleges previously attended as well as your high school and ask that official transcripts be forwarded directly to UW-WC. If you have not previously been a degree-seeking student in the UW-System (and paid the application fee), payment of $44 fee is also required along with a completed application. |
Transfer students must have maintained a “C” average or higher (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) at the previous college(s) to be admitted. If your GPA is less than a 2.0, you may be admitted on probation or final probation. If you have been suspended, you must file an appeal for admission. | Special Students Special students are those who are not seeking a university degree or those who are enrolled as "guest" students for six credits or less. |
Use Special Student Application Form. As a special student, it may be possible for you to enroll for up to six credits of coursework without having to submit prior education records. An application fee is not required. (If you are in high school, you will apply as a "high school special" and use the regular UW application, as explained below.) | Special Student Status: Under this classification, you may enroll for up to six credits of coursework before you have to submit the application fee and any previous educational records. You must be a high school graduate or have received your GED or HSED. Special status students are not eligible for financial aid. |
| High School Special Students High school juniors or seniors who enter as special students or through the Youth Options Program. |
If you are a student taking courses while still in high school, have your counselor forward the application materials to UW-WC Student Services Office. You will need to complete the application for admission and your counselor will need to forward your educational records. A letter of recommendation is also required from your high school counselor or principal. |
Youth Options Program Students: High school students applying for the youth options program must meet class rank requirements and submit: UW special student application, official high school transcript, and youth options worksheet. Contact your high school counselor for more information on this program. |
| Auditors Auditing a class means that you receive no college credits for the class. |
Auditors are allowed to register for classes, with instructor and space permitting, during the first week of class. Distance Education courses may not be audited. |

You must be pre-registered for the test. Contact your high school guidance office for more info (do not contact UW-WC). Enter at the main entrance of the campus. Your room assignment will be posted on signs in the main lobby. Signs will specify “No Writing” and “Plus Writing.” Allow extra time to locate your classroom. |
Photo ID You MUST have a photo ID and above supplies in order to take the exam. |
Arrive early! You must be in your assigned classroom by 7:45am as testing begins promptly at 8am. Late arrivals will not be allowed to enter classrooms once testing has started. Please allow a minimum of four hours for testing or 4 1/2 hours if you are taking the additional writing test. |

ACT Exam Preparation Workshops These 3-session workshops are offered to prepare for the ACT exam. Includes study-guide. |
