Political Science Major

Are you interested in a
Political Science Major?

Political Science is the study of government and public policy and of the political behavior of individuals and groups. It is an important, ever changing and exciting field that uses both humanistic and scientific perspectives and skills to examine political systems, both nationally and internationally. Students who are interested in the dynamic and changing political scene of both national and international government systems and how they interact with each other, are usually found in a major like this one.

A Political Science major prepares students for graduate school, law school, numerous civil service careers, as well as appointed positions within all levels of government.  It also provides realistic insights on how to serve as a campaign staff person or  seek elective office.

UW-WC students

Political science majors are challenged to think and research completely, analyze critically, and communicate clearly.  These skills will serve students well in later life, whether or not their career is directly related with the political world.
