This is an exciting and challenging interdisciplinary program
that builds
the leadership skills, problem-solving capacities and
interpersonal communication skills needed to succeed in a wide
variety of careers. The program is designed to develop leaders
in the private and public sectors.
As a student of UW Oshkosh, you will have access to both
UW-Washington County computer labs and UW-Oshkosh computer labs.
In addition, an advisor from UW-Oshkosh has office hours at
UW-WC to answer questions and provide any
additional course information.
Leadership Development Emphasis:
The degree explores conflict resolution, public administration,
community power systems and political behavior. In addition, the
degree:

Heightens an
understanding of complex social, political and economic
issues.

Develops
leadership skills applicable in career and community
settings.

Prepares you
for supervisory positions in government, civic and
career-related activities.
There are
four components to the degree:
* University General Education courses, 42
credits (can be taken at UW-WC)
* Liberal Studies major courses, 36 credits
* Leadership Development Emphasis courses, 27 credits
* Electives (15 credits - to meet degree minimum
of 120 credits)
As a senior, you will complete your degree with a 6-credit
research project and a
3-credit capstone seminar.
Certificate in
Civic & Community Leadership
A Certificate in Civic &
Community Leadership is a professional certificate program that strengthens your career advancement potential
with a valuable credential. Certificate credits also apply
toward a bachelor's degree. The certificate is an excellent
choice for careers in
administration, management, politics and civic related
leadership positions. It recognizes the
completion of 24
credits, including six required courses and two elective
courses. All courses are 3 credits each. The required courses include:

Getting started
is often the most difficult part. If you've been out of college
for several years or the prospect of studying and taking tests
seems overwhelming, contact us. Our advisors will help you
develop a plan to reach your goals.
Whatever your
situation, advisors will work with you on a personalized plan to
get you off to the right start. Typically, students will have completed
their general education credits
(freshman and sophomore courses) before entering this program. However, if you have
earned some college credits from one of the University of Wisconsin Colleges
(the two-year campuses) or another college, you may qualify to
enter this program.
