Bachelor of Liberal Studies in Leadership Development from UW-Oshkosh

The UW-Oshkosh Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree with an emphasis in Leadership Development is a fully accredited bachelor's degree program offering flexible and convenient evening classes at UW-Washington County. This cutting-edge program is an ideal choice for busy working adults who need to complete a bachelor's degree to advance their career potential. All courses meet from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the UW-Washington County campus and are completed in 7 weeks. Blended courses include both classroom and online learning segments.

This is an exciting and challenging interdisciplinary program that builds the leadership skills, problem-solving capacities and interpersonal communication skills needed to succeed in a wide variety of careers. The program is designed to develop leaders in the private and public sectors.

As a student of UW Oshkosh, you will have access to both UW-Washington County computer labs and UW-Oshkosh computer labs. In addition, an advisor from UW-Oshkosh has office hours at UW-WC to answer questions and provide any additional course information.

Coursework focuses on:

  • Transformative Leadership
  • Collaborative Leadership Dynamics
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Project Planning and Implementation

There are four components to the degree:

  • University General Education courses, 42 credits (can be taken at UW-WC)
  • Liberal Studies major courses, 36 credits
  • Leadership Development Emphasis courses, 27 credits
  • Electives (15 credits - to meet degree minimum of 120 credits)

As a senior, you will complete your degree with a 6-credit research project and a 3-credit capstone seminar.

Certificate in Civic & Community Leadership

A Certificate in Civic & Community Leadership is a professional certificate program that strengthens your career advancement potential with a valuable credential. Certificate credits also apply toward a bachelor's degree. The certificate is an excellent choice for careers in administration, management, politics and civic related leadership positions. It recognizes the completion of 24 credits, including six required courses and two elective courses. All courses are 3 credits each. The required courses include:

  • Public Administration
  • Collaborative Leadership Dynamics
  • Administrative Leadership & Behavior
  • Political Behavior
  • Conflict Resolution
    (Negotiation & Arbitration)
  • Community Power Systems

Elective credits can be chosen from:

  • Contemporary Global Issues
  • Managing People at Work
  • Campaign Management
  • Transformative Leadership
  • Project Planning & Implementation

Typically, students will have completed their general education credits (freshman and sophomore courses) before entering this program. However, if you have earned some college credits from one of the University of Wisconsin Colleges (the two-year campuses) or another college, you may qualify to enter this program.
