The consistent thing about midevil literature is how men are always the strong, burly type that is the warrior. That the warrior always looks down on the opposite sex. What gives diversity is the different moral dilemas and problems that the chracters face, in those stories. The major themes are that a man has to come and rescue either the dansel in distress or this weak and insignificant king. It also tries to show how people should act, and what they should try to accomplish in their lives. The major archetypes are the man is the hero and that the woman is an evil, hag. I liked the fact that the stories try to teach the reader something. What I really did not like was how women were sterotyped and that does not have a leg to stand on in this day of age. Even though these stories werer writtten in a time when the people an average lived short pitiful, lives, and where for the majority uneducated, ignoramsouses, there was nothing that women could not do that men could, if not better than men could.
